Illegal Aliens and the Unemployed US, who really wins?

2080 hours/year * 5.15/minimum wage = 10,712.00
Federal Social Security Taxes (paid on behalf of employee) 7.5% x 10,712.00 = 803.40
Unemployment insurance taxes (paid on first 8500/year) 2.70 * 8500 = 229.50
Approx cost of benefits per employee: (from http://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/surveymost) 7.00 * 10,712.00 = 749.84
================================================================================================================
Total annual cost per employee (approx.) = 12,494.74

Total Salary paid to illegal alien (this I have to approx. from various sources, but let's just say they pay as much as 80%, which I seriously doubt. From what I have read, while they may pay a daily/weekly rate higher than that of an employee, they work them many
more hours, so the hourly rate is significantly less.)

So, 80% of 10,712.00 = 8569.60

Now, let's consider that the company requires 200 employees:

200 * 12,494.74 = 2,498,948.00 legally employed
200 * 8569.60 = 1,713,920.00 illegally employed

Savings for the big company: 785,028.00 a year.

You tell me now, who should be reprimanded about the illegal alien situation in this country. The illegal aliens who are trying to
support their families, or the get-rich CEO/tycoons pocketing all of this extra money each year by NOT having legal employees.

How very arrogant!

CNN.com - Capitol Police request arrest warrant for Georgia congresswoman - Apr 3, 2006: "Cynthia McKinney"

I quote from her interview aired on television this evening "I travel all over the world and people in all countries know who I am." Ok, so I paraphrasing but hell, I had no idea who the woman is before this, and I tend to vote democratically. Of course, she came into office way before I moved here. Heck, I have met our Rep back in Toledo Marci Kaptur and doubt I would recognize her now.

I want to believe the woman really, but it is hard to put faith in someone as arrogant as she appears. Even more hard is why now are people coming out of the woodwork to say this happens all of the time. You better damn well believe if I was a congress woman, and some man treated me inappropriately at a security check, his head would be rolling, regardless of ethnicity.

Damn, don't they have cameras at these security check points anymore???! Oh, wait, I forgot, I am in GA where they give out driver's license to people without making them prove their ability with a road test.

The Proof is in the Pudding

USNews.com: America's Best Colleges 2006: National Universities: Top Schools

I am often criticized down here in the South for being a "damn yankee." Mostly because I reiterate how amazed I am at the apparent rampant lack of knowledge/education I find here in the south. Granted, there are exceptions to everything, and of course, those I work with are among the more intelligent (I won't mention what proportion of those are northerners, lol.)

But, I thought I would do a little research. As I expected, the vast majority of top universities are in the Northern states. About 20% of the top 100 are in southern states. (I don't include CA since they don't consider themselves "southerners" and there are great number of them in NC, so I include them as "the south" loosely.)

Now, I am not saying everyone down here is ignorant. But when you look at the general population, what else do these statistics show. Trust me, I hear all kinds of excuses, such as "those books were banned when we were in school," or "it is all because of you Yankees coming down here," and so on. But, why is there not a better distribution of top schools in the South? And among those universities in the south, a great number of them are Private universities. What is up with Public education here? I mean, come on, if you live in GA you get to go to college for free. Hmmm, maybe there is something to that...

While I am at it, what fool at USNews ranked GA Tech above Ohio State!

And don't worry Southerners, this Damn Yankee is moving back to Ohio by 2008. I like to drive in cities where people actually know how to drive and be courteous. (Again, there is always an exception, don't take offense, I am just making generalizations based on MY experiences.)
